In Episode 10, Season 2 of Brewing Travel shots the host Zinal Doshi is conversing with Madhureeta Anand, a filmmaker, activist, and the Founder of Phree For Safety- a safety ratings app that makes public spaces safer by harnessing user safety ratings.
She is an activist for women’s rights and the rights of other minorities. She has consistently used her films and influence to support the causes of ending violence against women and children. Madhureeta has a column “The Big M” on India Today’s website DailyO. Madhureeta has twice been awarded the Karamveer award for her work that combines filmmaking with activism.
The ‘Phree App’, allows users, particularly women and the transgender community, to rate commercial establishments, streets, and areas for safety. The app helps create a map marking out safe/unsafe spaces, thereby creating a pre-emptive safety environment for these vulnerable segments of society. It is a unique app open to users from around the world backed by ‘Made in India’ technology.
