In Episode 1 of Brewing Travel Shots, the host Zinal Doshi is conversing with India's first woman Safari guide, Ratna Singh.

Ratna Singh has been working in the field of wilderness tourism for over 15 years. After having spent about a decade with India's premier Safari company, the  Taj Safaris, she has been working as an independent professional for the last few years. Her focus now is sustainable wilderness tourism and community development, with women empowerment having a very special spot in her endeavors.  Along with private hospitality companies,  Ratna works on training projects with various Tiger Reserves and wilderness parks in the country, helping train locals to work in the tourism sector. She was awarded the Rex Karmaveer Chakra, instituted by the UN & iCongo for her work with communities living on the periphery of the jungle.

Ratna's three shots of advice:

  • Give it a shot, Try and fail rather than not tried at all.
  • Power through the World.
  • If you put on a brave face, bravery will follow.
