Udaipur is everything a Rajasthan city should be. Palaces that glow at sunset, lakes that reflect the sky, and streets that smell of marigolds and history. And then, just a few hours away, Jawai, where leopards roam freely across granite hills and the wilderness reveals the wild beauty of Rajasthan. This Udaipur and Jawai women-only trip brings together royal heritage, scenic lakes and unforgettable leopard safari experiences for women travelling solo or with friends.
In most parts of India, seeing a leopard takes luck, patience, and often a long wait. In Jawai, Rajasthan, though, leopards have lived with the local Rabari community for generations, sharing the same rocky hills. The Rabaris see these beautiful cats as sacred, and their bond is one of India’s most interesting examples of people and wildlife living side by side. Picture a leopard walking across a huge granite boulder, unbothered by your presence. Then picture ending your day by a lake in Udaipur. This trip brings together those kinds of contrasts.
Udaipur is known as the City of Lakes, and once you reach, it’s easy to see why. It blends royal history, intricate art & architecture, busy markets, and classic old-world charm. The City Palace, built over a few centuries by Mewar rulers, has gorgeous courtyards, mirror work, and halls with an astounding view of Lake Pichola. Nearby, Jagdish Temple shows off traditional architecture, and the old city’s narrow lanes are home to miniature artists, silver jewelry shops, local food spots, and small moments that make this trip satisfying.
There’s a lot more to see than just the palaces. Walking through the old city lets you discover stories hidden in its havelis and busy markets. At Bagore ki Haveli, you can experience the traditional Rajasthani music and dance performances. As the sun sets, a boat ride on Lake Pichola gives you one of Udaipur’s best views, with the City Palace shining in the evening light and the Aravalli hills reflected in the water. It’s the kind of evening where you forget about your phone.
Just a few hours away, Jawai shows a very different side of Rajasthan. You won’t find thick forests or tall trees here. Instead, old granite hills, open scrubland, and water spots attract lots of wildlife. Jawai is best known for its leopards, and you can try to spot them on morning and evening safaris. You might also see crocodiles, migratory birds, and other animals near Jawai Bandh. Visiting a Rabari village adds something special, letting you meet a community whose traditions and connection to the land are truly unique.
What makes this trip for the women so special is the balance it strikes. One day you're in the royal buildings, learning about Mewar and looking at the crafts; the next day you're on safari, watching wildlife in a very primitive landscape. It's a great mix of Rajasthani culture, architecture, food, wildlife, and experiences, without feeling overwhelming.
This combination is especially great for women traveling solo or exploring Rajasthan with a group. You get the comfort of thoughtfully planned stays, organised sightseeing and guided wildlife experiences, along with the joy of discovering new places with like-minded women. Whether it’s your first solo group trip or one of many, there’s something wonderful about sharing a sunset boat ride, a leopard sighting or a long conversation over a Rajasthani meal with people who started the journey as strangers.
At The Flapper Life, we’ve combined these two places for women who want more from a holiday than just visiting famous sights. You’ll explore Udaipur’s heritage, enjoy its lakeside charm, and go on a leopard safari in Jawai. We've planned every part of the trip so you can enjoy at a relaxed, easy pace.
Rajasthan is more than grand forts and royal tales. Sometimes, it’s simply watching the last light fade over Lake Pichola. Other times, it’s sitting quietly in the wild, waiting for a leopard to show up on the rocks.
Two different landscapes, many stories, and one beautiful journey through Rajasthan. Experience it with The Flapper Life.
Everything you might want to ask before you book this journey.
The cooler months are the best time for a women only trip to Rajasthan, and November is one of the best. The monsoon has fully retreated, the landscape is still green, and the days are warm and sunny, typically between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius. Evenings cool down to around 12 to 15 degrees, which suits both sightseeing in Udaipur and safaris in Jawai.
Jawai has one of the highest leopard sighting rates of any wildlife destination in India. The leopards are habituated to vehicles and move openly across the rocky terrain, particularly in the early morning and evening hours when the safaris run. While no wildlife sighting can ever be guaranteed, Jawai consistently delivers experiences that most dedicated wildlife travellers consider among the best leopard encounters they have ever had. Two safaris are included in the trip to maximise the opportunity.
Carry comfortable clothes for daytime exploring, since days are warm and sunny, and a light jacket for early morning safaris and evenings. Comfortable walking shoes help at the City Palace, which takes about 2 to 3 hours to explore. A scarf or shawl is useful for temple visits
No trip can promise zero risk, but a women only travel group removes many of the worries first-time solo travellers have. You travel as part of a group, guided by an all-female team, so you are never working out transport, timings or stops alone. Tell the team about any concerns when you book so they can advise you before you travel
Yes. Joining a women group trip is one of the easiest ways to do a solo trip to Udaipur. You come on your own or with a friend, join a small group of women, and travel with an all-female team, so the planning is handled for you and you meet like-minded women along the way
